The Housing Authority of the City of New Haven
is accepting applications since March 22, 2021, for its
Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) waitlist
The Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCVP) provides rental assistance to help low-income persons afford decent and safe rental housing. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) funds the program and Elm City Communities (ECC) administers it in the city of New Haven. Once an applicant is pulled from the waitlist HCVP will issue a rental voucher and the applicant is then free to locate a dwelling unit suitable to the family’s needs and desires in the private rental market.
REQUIREMENTS:
Earnings must be between 0-50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) at the time the applicant is drawn from the waitlist. Please see the table below for specific income and household requirements. Placement on the waitlist will be based on the date and time the application is received with accommodations made for applications received by mail or hand delivery to give fair access. Applications will be date and time stamped as they are received.
The waiting list will be updated as needed to ensure that all applicants and applicant information is current and timely. To update your online application please follow the instructions below:
